Watching the U2 concert

I feel pretty under appreciated at work, and it blows.

Joe Pos is awesome, and I kept thinking of Jacues in this article.

Seriously, this is amazing!

Arkeg - Arcade cabinet / Beer tap

For the true beer geek, Arkeg ($4,000) is an arcade game-styled machine features a fully functioning kegerator in its belly, with room for a 5 gallon keg kept cool by a solid-state thermoelectric cooling system. In addition, it sports a gaming-ready PC, pre-loaded with 104 games such as Asteroids, Mortal Kombat II, and 1942.

"There’s a process of natural selection going on right now. The music business was waiting to die in its current form about 20 years ago. But then, hallelujah, the CD turned up and kept it going for a bit. But basically, it was dead."

I have reached the tumbalarity of zero…apparently no one listens to me.

I am not even really that excited for the upcoming all-star game.  Very strange indeed.

"The industry had already written off the band as a One Hit Wonder with “Creep.” But now there was “Fake Plastic Trees” and “High and Dry” and “Just” and these videos were pieces of art as far as I’m concerned. That was one of the ones we fought for as other record companies would give us shit, “What do you mean?! This record’s not selling as much as our record!” But then one of the most amazing and satisfying days for me and Lewis and the Music Department was when Thom Yorke came in to give us gold records for The Bends. It took a long time to get there. But when they came in and handed us the gold records in our music room that day, Thom Yorke walked up to us and said, “I know you guys took a lot of shit for staying behind this and backing us on this record. And I just want you to know how much it means to us.” And Thom Yorke actually broke into tears before he walked out of the room. He was literally in tears."

As They See 'Em: A Fan's Travels in the Land of Umpires As They See ‘Em: A Fan’s Travels in the Land of Umpires by Bruce Weber

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book. The look at what it takes to work your way up the ladder of umpiring is impressive. Much more needs to be improved on in terms of racial and ethnic equality, but I love to umpire, and this was a joy to read. It also made me realize I would never want to try to make it as a pro…I wouldn’t be able to handle the machismo of modern baseball.

This photo of my friend at the Congressional Luau is awesome because it looks like Obama is photobombing.
Our friend Neil and family with Obama, who really does look like he was all “Hey I’m gonna jump in these dudes’ shot!”

This link will take you to a story and a graphic video of an innocent protester dying from a gunshot to the chest.  It is awful to watch, but I am glad I am aware of the senseless violence going on in the world.  Iran needs to be held accountable for the violence it is waging against the protesters on the street.
